Obituary for Russell "Whitey" Hulst

Russel “Whitey” Hulst, age 85 of Holland, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Holland Hospital surrounded by his family.

Whitey was a member of Harlem Reformed Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He worked Eagle Ottawa Leather Company as a supervisor for 38 years. Whitey enjoyed bowling, golfing, and loved to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Hulst in 2006.

Surviving are his wife Lois of 63 years; Children, Randall (Deb) Hulst of Holland, Patti (Daniel) Matthyse of Grand Haven, Sharon (Frank) Mihm of Hamilton, Dan (Tammy) Hulst of Paw Paw; 13 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Aleida Dood, Verne (Hess) Lampen, Roger (Tret) Hulst, Sherwin (Barb) Hulst, Wayne (Sally) Hulst; In-laws, John Kossen, Alberta Hulst, Carolyn (Bill) Overway, Geneva Berkompas, Paul (Elaine) Van Heuvelen; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, January 9, 2015 at Harlem Reformed Church, 6854 144th Ave., Holland. Officiating will be Rev. John Nyitray. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, from 5-7:00pm at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St. Holland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association.
