Obituary for Donald G. Andrew

Donald G.  Andrew
Retired Colonel Donald George Andrew, 85, of Holland, died peacefully December 29, 2014, at Freedom Village in Holland, Michigan.

He served for thirty years in the U. S. Army and completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from the Army and lived in Sarasota for many years before moving to Holland in 2004 to be near his grandchildren. Don was an adventurous, fun-loving raconteur whose stories will be missed by family and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel (Mead) Andrew, his father, George Clare Andrew of Ferndale, MI, sister Margery Andrew of Santa Monica, and son Gregory Andrew of Honolulu.

He is survived by siblings James and Jane (Major) Andrew; children Catherine Andrew, Mark (Joan) Andrew of Holland and Michael (Vanessa) Andrew. He is also survived by grandchildren Julia, Madeline, Elizabeth, Thomas and Lukas, and great-grandchild Olivia (Dziegelewski).

A memorial for Don will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Freedom Village auditorium, 145 Columbia Avenue in Holland, Michigan.

Ret. Col. Andrew will be interred with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery this spring.
